Fashion in the 80's

80'S FASHION

When it comes to trends, the 1980s was, without a doubt, one of the most notorious. After all, in what other decade could you wear tight pants one day and baggy pants the next? Plus you could wear leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all simultaneously (and in electric neon colors). Vibrant colors mixed in an exceptional way were completely allowed. Here are some of the most notorious trends of the 80s.

HOMBRERAS

The huge and very pronounced shoulder pads are one of the main trends of the 80s. Perhaps it had something to do with women's liberation and the assertion of power that women were beginning to have in the workplace. Take a look at the girls in the pictures below, the pronounced shoulders definitely add strong character to the females. Whatever the cause, all the women were wearing shoulder pads.

MINI SKIRTS

The shorter the better, both women and girls loved miniskirts. The denim ones were the most popular, but they were also made in a succession of other materials, introducing knitted fabric and leather. They were usually combined with ankle boots.

LEGWARMERS

Another one of the other major '80s trend cravings that didn't make a lot of sense was leg warmers. Maybe we all had very cold legs thanks to the miniskirts we wore or maybe we just thought it looked cute. Whatever our reasoning was at the time, it was one of the biggest trends of the decade.

HUGE EARRINGS

Giant earrings from numerous costume jewelry collections were the recent trend. If the attested ones didn't touch the shoulder, they weren't huge enough.

FINGERLESS GLOVES

Fingerless gloves were another of the rare trends of these times. From romantics to punk rock fans, fingerless gloves were popular among a wide variety of genres. They are forever going to be interconnected with Madonna's mid-80s look.

PARACHUTE PANTS

The inclination started with normal cargo style pants but ended in pants looser than a sack of potatoes. Parachute pants have the possibility of really well being a part of clothing that synthesizes the ridiculousness of the 80s. But, at the time, they felt very cool. They were worn by both guys and girls.

JACKETS "FOR MEMBERS

Members-only jackets were popular, and imitations were totally unacceptable. Sleeves were rolled up to just below the elbow, a common look of the decade.

UNITS OR "UNITS

It also decided to sell clothes that could be worn in different ways. They were sold in unique sizes, and with 3 or 4 of these garments, you could enjoy dresses, skirts, pants or sweaters. In these images you will have the possibility to understand this criterion, which was very popular among teenagers.

STIRRUP PANTS

This type of pants, usually made of elasticized fabrics, had the ability to lengthen the legs.

Oversized tops

Large sweaters, sweatshirts and T-shirts were worn with miniskirts or pants. They were often cinched at the waist with large, flashy belts.

ACID WASH JEANS

This kind of wear on jeans was another of the most striking trends in this decade.

JEANS WITH DARTS

An inclination that, thankfully, was completely forgotten. Pants with darts at the waist, including jeans, were widely used.
